Privacy Policy
This is the privacy policy for veganfood.ie. It explains what personal data we collect, why, how long we keep it, and the rights you have under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Irish Data Protection Act 2018.
Who we are
veganfood.ie is operated from Ireland. For any privacy question, write to hello@veganfood.ie and we will respond within 30 days.
What we collect
We collect the minimum necessary to run the site:
- Newsletter signups. Email address only. Stored so we can send you the weekly newsletter you asked for.
- Business listing submissions. Business name, location, contact email, optional website and description. Stored so we can review your listing and contact you.
- Anonymous usage data via Matomo. We use a privacy-friendly self-hosted analytics tool (Matomo). It records page views, referrer, country (not city), browser type and time-on-page in aggregated form. IP addresses are anonymised and we do not use Matomo cookies that require consent. We never sell or share this data.
What we do not collect
- We do not use Facebook Pixel, TikTok Pixel, Google Ads remarketing or any third-party advertising trackers.
- We do not sell your data, ever.
- We do not require an account to read anything on the site.
Legal basis for processing
- Newsletter: your explicit consent (you typed your email into the form). You can withdraw consent at any time via the unsubscribe link in every email.
- Listing submissions: our legitimate interest in running a directory, balanced against your interest. You can ask us to delete the data at any time.
- Analytics: legitimate interest in understanding which pages help readers. Data is anonymised at source.
How long we keep it
- Newsletter emails: until you unsubscribe.
- Listing submissions: while your business is on the site, plus 12 months after removal for record-keeping.
- Matomo analytics: 24 months, then automatically purged.
Your rights under GDPR
You have the right to:
- Ask for a copy of any personal data we hold about you (right of access).
- Ask us to correct it if it is wrong (right of rectification).
- Ask us to delete it (right to erasure).
- Object to processing or restrict it.
- Lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission of Ireland — dataprotection.ie.
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@veganfood.ie. We will respond within 30 days.
